The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is a once-in-a-generation, not since Star Wars, transcendent reminder of why we tell stories, why we have imagination, and why we must go on quests to test our spirits and heal the world. The battles feel huge in their scale and I feel that they did a great job in capturing the look and feel of the huge epic battles in the movies very well.Somewhere, there are future Hollywood directors who will tell magazine feature writers that they first decided to make movies as they watched this film it's that good. Speaking of special you can also use heroes such as Gandalf which is pretty awesome.You can unlock various special abilities as well as upgrading your buildings and troops so it always feels like there is some kind of progression happening. There are more powerful units that you can use like Hobbits which have their own special abilities. The different units can be upgraded as you progress through the game which as you would expect makes them stronger. ![]() ![]() ![]() For example, pikemen can defeat cavalry, but swordsmen can defeat pikemen. The different units in the game work on a kind of rock, paper scissors system. I found that the game handles everything very well and it is not over complicated like many other RTS games can be.The battle system is actually pretty awesome. You have to make buildings, get troops, watch resources, plan your attacks and so on. The gameplay is what you would expect from an RTS style of game. ![]()
